These are the Moments I want to Remember

Hope you have your coffee handy...this is going to be a long one!!

I was sitting her reflecting on what happened in my life in 2012. Wow..what a year! As I was thinking about it I thought...geeeze, this is going to sound like I'm bragging about myself. About all the good things that happened this year. Why do we do that? Why can't we "blow our own horn" once a year? I guess I just don't want to come across the wrong way. But then I thought..no you have to document this..for YOU. My friends will cheer! They have shared my tears, my joys and my silly sense of humor, so they will share this too with me. So on my art journal/smash page I wrote about a few things that I was proud of, remembered and laughed about in 2012. So for Me, for you and for us...here is my list!

* We lost our family pet Tessa in January after 16 years of love and cuddles. I still miss my girl.
* In February we adopted Daisy. After a month of crying my hubby turned to me and said "you need a puppy don't you?". She fills my days with smiles.
* We then adopted Jax in April after a late night phone call from Sonia. Now life was getting fun. Two puppies in two months.
* We spent a lot of our summer out at the cabin, playing with the puppies and having late night chats out on the deck. Chips and Dips and tons of movies made for a great summer.
* Clint and I got away to Victoria for a few days in September. It was a trip full of memories. From the wine tour, to new friendships and I was most impressed that I got on a boat and went whale watching. Something you may not know about me...I'm terrified of water!
* I set a goal for myself for 2012, and that was to design for a manufacturer. I'm so blessed and still pinch myself when I say I'm part of the Bo Bunny Design Team as of August. I met my goal and am so proud of myself ( and I don't say that often)
* I was also so excited to win a scrapbooking contest in February. I didn't even think I would make the top 75, and was shocked when it came down to the top 3. Then I was getting nervous. When they announced I had won, I couldn't believe it. Yes, many of you remember it I'm sure...all the voting, lol.
* I was on 8 different design teams from January thru August. I guess that's where the 250 projects came from on my blog, lol. Gosh, that's over 20 a month!
* I was also thrilled to be published in several magazines this past year and was honored to guest design for a few manufacturers.
* I also got to design for my local scrapbook store, Urban Scrapbook. It's so fun to walk into the store and see some of my layouts showcased.

Now 2013... what will it bring? I would love to be published more, be on another manufacturer team and try new things with scrapbooking. Maybe tutorials, or combine my mixed media with my paper projects. I guess I should mention that I should exercise more, eat healthier and learn life balance too right? Well, if you've read this whole post, Thank You!! I really wanted to document my year, and I appreciate you staying until the end, lol. Your coffee cup must be empty...and your saying..is she ever going to stop talking?? Another thing ( but you probably already know this) I love to talk!!! So Here's to the New Year and all the good things it will bring!!! Cheers!!!!!

Bo Bunny - The 12 Days of Christmas

Morning Everyone!!! How was Christmas? Was Santa good to you??? I know I'm stuffed and have enjoyed the holidays with my family. Today at Bo Bunny our assignment was called "Pinspiration". Now, you know I am on Pinterest here and there (ok, I'm ALWAYS on Pinterest), so it was easy to find some holidays inspiration. I chose this photo because I loved the greens and reds with that pop of white! I tried to incorporate that into my layout with the white stitching and white doily. I was excited to use the Rejoice Collection. The vintage colors and elements were just calling my name. This is a photo of my family ( see the kids trying to look all innocent and sweet?). It's our holiday tradition to put on those Santa Hats and take some fun photos under the tree!! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and here's to a Joyous New Year!

Gift Card Holders

Hi Everyone!!! Four more days!! I'm on the countdown!!! lol. These are a few little gift card holders I made for Christmas. The Starbucks coffee cup I found on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try and reproduce it. On the inside I just used a little bag I had and decorated the front and slipped the card inside. Those are for the coffee lovers in the house. The stockings..well I made 5 of them, all each a little different. I did the same thing with the little bag, but it's just glued to the back of the sock. Those are for all the other yummy gift cards! My favorite thing was playing with the white distress crackle, trying to make it look like snow. I found out I really like making little things like this. Can't wait until the next holiday!

Remember

Morning!! The countdown has begun. Only 5 days until Christmas. Are you ready? I'm as ready as I'll ever be, lol. With this page, it just started with some patterned paper, and I had no clue what was going to happen after that, lol. Smudge, smear, paste, lol. I painted the doily, didn't like it, ripped it up and stuck it here and there, lol. Remember...anything goes! It's fun, it's bright and it's  something new right? Have an awesome day everyone!

A Good Life

Good Morning!! Just sharing another Art Journal page. This one I played with some Washi tape and some lace. Just had to try something new. One day I will settle in with a "style" but for now I'm just having fun and playing with everything. I just got some new stamps from Unity, so I'm ready to start on another one. The possibilities are endless, so I'm excited to see what the next one will be. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Santa's List - Let's Get Sketchy

Ho Ho Ho!!! Is everyone ready for Christmas? Gifts all bought and wrapped? I know you must have some free time then to play along with us at Let's Get Sketchy, lol. This was a fun sketch to work with. I grabbed my photo box and the first thing I pulled out where these studio photos of Ryan back from 2005. I took him for his school pictures and when he saw the Snowman backdrop, he just had to have the photo taken. I thought it was so darn adorable! Wish I could convince him to do it again now that he's 20! So Merry Christmas friends and family!!! Have a very Happy Holiday Season!

Trust in HIS love

Morning!! Just sharing another Art Journal page I've done. Ohhh what a process this was. I tried playing with Distress Stain but was unsure if I should gesso or not first. I tried it both ways and was not to happy with the results, so I grabbed some old patterned tissue paper and tried a new technique with some sprays and my new heart template. Just having fun playing around, but this is what this journal is for. Having fun and learning new things. All trial and error right? lol. Hope your all having a wonderful Tuesday! The saying I found on Pinterest and just had to use it...it reads:
Trust - In HIS timing
Rely-On HIS Promises
Wait-for HIS Answers
Believe- In HIS Miracles
Rejoice-In HIS Goodness
Relax-In HIS Presence

Bo Bunny - Holiday Gift Tags

Morning!!!! Are you all ready for Christmas? I'm getting there with a little help from Bo Bunny! Our project today was to create Holiday Gift Tags. I had never made a tag before, so I was up to the challenge. I have been wanting to play with the Rejoice Collection, so this was the perfect opportunity. For the stocking, I used some chipboard and blooms and finished off with some crackle paint for a snowy look. The tree was all paper pieced then the bling came out along with the Noteworthy pieces and a chipboard star. The last tag was a cutout from the patterned paper collection along with some chipboard and lace. Tags are FUN to make!!! When I hung them on my little tree, I thought..wouldn't it be fun to make these for my Christmas tree? A scrappy tree..hmmm.. now there's an idea for my studio!!! My hubby also came up with a great idea, take the tags and make them into Christmas cards..so that's what I did!! A card with a tag you can take off and hang on your tree!! I know two friends who are going to recognize these today!! Do you make tags? What do YOU use them for? I would love some good ideas because these are fun to make!

Time

Morning Everyone!! Just sharing another art journal page that I've done. This one is all about Time. I love trying new techniques, but I still want my journal to reflect me and my thoughts. I always wonder about what someone will think when they see this, maybe the great grand kids or even grandkids (if I ever have any..hint hint..I know Nicole reads my blog daily, lol). I want them to know a little about me through these pages. First I hope they say...wow Grandma was too cool...and then they will say...wow..I didn't know that about how she felt, or how she thought. It's different than scrapping, because there is rarely a photo on the page. It's technique and words. On this one I hand wrote...Time to pray, time to laugh for example all over the page. So that's my thoughts for the day. Hope your all relaxed, the holiday shopping is done, the cookies are baked and your just enjoying your blog surfing!! See you tomorrow!!!

This is My Wish

Afternoon Everyone!!! When I saw this challenge at My Mind's Eye, I just knew I had to play along. The challenge was to scrap your "wish list". I know I have a scrappy wish list which is a mile long, but what is it that I Really Wish For?  My one wish is to be Happy and Enjoy the Journey that I'm on. I love doing layouts where you really have to stop and think. It gives me time to reflect. So enjoy your journey my friends..it's going to be great!

Life is Music

Morning! On a cold and snowy day last week, I was playing in my art journal again! What a surprise right? I love to play with all those goodies!! I'm still trying out ways to do photo transfers and today, one worked and one didn't..hmmmm. I'm trying to find my "style". I love the cute and fun, the vintage and the watercolor look.  I love all kinds of colors, and I adore bubble wrap, lol. But I tend to always head back to something that starts with the color brown. I guess it's the vintage look I like. I have a ton of old piano books, so I can see those showing up in tons of pages!!! It's a process, and I'm loving this journey! Now bring on the bubble wrap!

Morning Ladies and Gents! Another break last night found me on the Page Maps blog again! The sketches are just so amazing. I always get so inspired when I see them. I'm always stumped when making cards, so I was excited to find a card sketch. I used some goodies from the Bo Bunny collection " Love Letters". Not your typical pink or red valentines collection. I love the blacks and greens with the soft pinks and reds. Your thinking...un huh...we all know she loves those vintage colors! Well, you know you would be right, lol. Ryan spent the day yesterday with me in my studio studying for his finals so I told him I just made  a card to give to his girlfriend on Valentines Day...he rolled his eyes, lol. I guess I'm suppose to be shhh when he's studying! Have an awesome day my friends!

It's A Snow Day

Hi Everyone!!! How's your afternoon? I've been wanting to play with the "Snow Day" collection from Bo Bunny since it came out. I love the blues and greens, and all the embellies that come with it! Well today was the day. With this awesomely amazing sketch from Becky Fleck at Page Maps and the blizzard we had yesterday, I had just the right combination. Jax & Daisy were the only two that wanted to go outside during a blizzard. They think it's amazing that all those toys that were in the yard yesterday where now buried. Most pictures I was taking had Jax's head buried in a snow bank digging for his bones, lol. I know the photos look fuzzy, but that's how much snow was falling all day! I wasn't thinking blizzard...I was thinking...photo opportunity!! Have a wonderful day my friends!

Spread Your Wings and Fly

Morning!! Happy Thursday! I've been playing again, lol. I saw this You Tube video by Donna Downey demonstrating how to do an image transfer. Well..you know me. I just had to try it. Really fun technique. All you need is some Matte Medium or Gel Medium and a ink jet photo printed on plain old photocopy paper. It's definitely something you have to try a few times, I rubbed off some paper and took away the butterflies wings, but it was a new technique I learnt and I got to have fun. In the middle of life's chaos, art journaling seems to keep me balanced. In between deadlines and projects, this helps me focus. Hope you enjoyed this one, and I'm off to find a new technique!!! If you art journal, please leave me a link to your blog, I would love to stop by and see what your creating!

Art Journaling With My Girls!

Good Morning! I have a fun story to share with you..I'll try to keep it short!!!

The other day my daughter tells me she made a "Vector"...a WHAT? Well I guess it's a process of Photoshop and Illustrator where you take a photo and turn it into this art piece.. I of course say SEND IT TO ME!! When I see this, I go...WOW..that is incredible. Which photo did you use? SENT IT TO ME!! When I saw this I immediately thought...I want to turn this into a canvas! So Nicole did the photos, then Ashley and I made the canvas. Ashley is my son's girlfriend who also happens to be an artist. I learnt So much from her about shading, drawing and painting! So thank you girls for helping me out with my project! Are we a great group or what? lol. I see another canvas in the works!

 This is Nicole!!
This is her Vector

And this is the canvas that Ashley and I did!! It's a gift for Nicole and when I sent her a photo of it she said SEND IT TO ME!!! ( Like Mother, like Daughter).

Happy Everything

Happy Tuesday Everyone! How's everyone's day? I took a break from my usual design work when I saw this sketch on the Scrapbook And Cards Today blog. How cute is this sketch? I wanted to use some of my Bo Bunny Mistletoe collection and I thought this would be the perfect sketch. I tend to use more earthy tones for my layouts, but these photos just called for cute and fun! This is Ashley posing with Daisy & Jax after we decorated the tree. Nicole keeps saying he looks like the dog from the movie "The Grinch"..really? lol.

Baby It's Cold Outside - Let's Get Sketchy

Happy December!!  I can't believe it's less than a month to Christmas. I guess I should start getting ready, lol. This is our new sketch reveal this week at Let's Get Sketchy. This is my adopted niece Kinslee. Her mom and I have been friends for a long time and little Kins always calls me Aunty! So Aunty I am. This is her photo from last Christmas, and I've had it on my desk now for almost a year, waiting for the right layout, and here it is. Love these papers from Authentique, I can't get enough of the textures and colors from this collection. I did a little modeling paste and stencilling around the edges, then added some chalking. Thought it just needed a little something, somethin!. Hope you can join us and play along!

Why? To Believe In Me

Morning!! I wanted to share a layout I created  for a very unique challenge. This one was interesting. It was just for the design team at Let's Get Sketchy. We were suppose to do a layout to answer the question "Why Do You Scrap". This is one of the hardest layouts I've done. I really had to stop and reflect. I will share what my journaling reads so you can see my answer.

When I asked myself why I scrap I really had to think. It started as a way to preserve my families journey., but it became more than that. It became...about Me. It's about letting my creative side come through. It's about believing in myself. It's expressing myself through my art. It's being that creative person who has been hiding for so long. To shy to say...this is who I am, and I love myself again.
