My Girl

Hi everyone!! How was your weekend? It was -40C with the windchill Saturday, so a good day to stay inside and create! Hubby had flight school again, so another reason to play all day in my studio, lol. Clean house? No way!!  I just couldn't resist this sketch from Sketchabilities. I love to play with some mixed media goodies, so out came the gelatos and the modeling paste, stencils and the paintbrushes. I had this photo of Nicole and I printed twice, because Someone ( not mentioning names) changed the printer settings to black and white!! Never a layout is wasted I say.. one for me, one for Nicole!   Now.. off to clean my desk and start on another project! Have a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone! I found a sketch at Sketchabilities that I just had to try. I love how Karan is doing a little mixed media flair with her sketches. Now this one was an interesting project. I couldn't find the right paper, I fussed, I cut, I tore and finally came up with something. Then out came the stencils and paint. Then the mists. That's where things started to get interested. Too much mist!! A little gesso!! More mist. I wasn't sure what I thought so I sent a pic to my sister and said.. what do you think? Keep it? Or start again? She said keep it so here it is, lol. Do you have those days when you think a project will just come together effortlessly and then it ends up taking all day? Well, this was one of those days!! Happy Scrapping Everyone!!

Minutes Layout and a Blog Hop Winner!

 Good Morning and Happy Monday!! Today before I announce the winner of the blog hop, I wanted to share a layout I did just for fun using the new sketch at Sketchabilities. Karan is a dear friend of mine and I've always admired her sketches. Now she has changed it up abit to add a mixed media feel. I love to play with my mixed media goodies, so this was a win win!! I had some free time since it's blowing and snowing here and I'm hibernating. I did the background with some gelatos and got out those stamps! You know I'm loving my stamps right now, lol.. The photo is of my clocks. I love clocks and have several different ones around my studio, so I snapped a photo to use. And.. I just have to mention the layering... I laughed when I counted seven layers behind my photos.. did I get a little carried away? Love This Story

  Good Morning and Happy Monday!!! How was the weekend? We stayed home this weekend and in between laundry, yardwork and cleaning the house I got to play a little in my studio. I saw this sketch by my very sweet and oh so talented friend Karan Gerber at Sketchabilities and new I just had to play along. As I was looking for paper, I realized I had bought not one, not two, but three collections of Prima Engraver! I must really have loved it to buy it three times right? lol...  So I used some of it for this layout, did a mini album for Nicole which I will share on Wednesday, and still have tons left over. You may be seeing me use this again! lol. So, off I go to find my next project and I hope your all having a wonderful Monday!

Right Here, Right Now. Today

Hi everyone! Hope your all having a fabulous day!!! Today is my last design team reveal for Sketchabilities. I've really enjoyed the two terms I've had with Karan. She is such a talented sketch designer, artist and a beautiful friend. I've had this photo for a long time, and was looking for a time when I was ready to scrap it. I've hidden the journaling on the tag, but it's the story of my Dad and my daughter Nicole. My dad bought us a lake lot and built a cabin from scratch for our family. Every morning he would go out and water the tiny trees that he bought for around the yard. Nicole was always up early so she was thrilled to go out with "Grampy" to help. He was such a wonderful Grandpa. He would always look at me and say "These trees are not for me, I'll be gone long before they are grown, but they will be here for you to enjoy". If we only knew that we would lose my dad shortly after. My dad passed when Nicole was only 8 years old, but she remembers Grampy and the fun they had together. My stories could go on and on, but the tears are flowing so  I will share more of his story through my scrapbooking another time. Here's to beautiful memories and to all of us who have lost a special someone.

Thankful - Sketchabilities

Morning Everyone! I can't believe we are in November already. It's almost time to start getting ready for Christmas. Today at Sketchabilities we have a new sketch reveal. My sweet friend Karan just does the most incredible sketches. She makes being on her team a pleasure. This is our family photo from Thanksgiving. It was SO cold outside, we were freezing. I told the kids if they smiled nice and stood still, they could go back in doors, lol. I can't believe Ryan stood out there in his bare feet the whole time. Our plan was to go to the park, but we settled for the backyard so we could run inside to warm up, lol. I was also excited because I used my new tool on this layout..the sew stamper! It's a little self inking roller that makes it look like stitches on your layout. I think I will be using this one again! Have a wonderful day my friends and hope to see some of you over at Sketchabilities!

Butchart - Sketchabilities

It's a new reveal today at Sketchabilities!! When I saw the flowers, I knew I was going to love this one, lol. I had a stash of Authentique and decided it would suit my photos of Butchart Gardens, I wanted something earthy yet girly, lol. So this is me, just hanging out in the gardens, sipping my coffee. It was a fabulous day and it's one of my favorites spots on the island to visit. I did some inking, some misting and for the third photo I took a little envelope and did some stamping and inking ( then covered most of it up). The hardest part was what to do with all those little flowers..I needed centers, lol. Ohhh yeahhh.... ummm I had some stickles that I have never used, lol. Perfect for the flowers. I just took my time with this one and played around. I really am happy how it turned out. I'm off and running so I hope to see you all over at Sketchabilities!

The Golden Days of Fall - Sketchabilities

Morning Scrappy Peeps!! Today is another sketch reveal at Sketchabilities. I so look forward to working with Karan's sketches, she so fabulous!! I'm also just loving this new fall line from Bo Bunny. My favorite season is fall, so I can't wait to dig into those deep rich colours. One day at the cabin we decided to do a photo shoot. Ryan, Ashley and I went for a walk to the fields where there were these gigantic hay bales. The kids had so much fun climbing on them and hamming it up for the camera. Ryan has become quite the budding photographer, he took some amazing shots of Ashley that day. I've got them all saved to do a mini!! I hope you can pop by Sketchabilities and play along with us.

Morning Scrap Friends! Today is another sketch reveal at Sketchabilities. Karan's sketches are so much fun to work with, and I had a blast with this one. I had this collection from MME and I thought it had just the rights elements for this layout. I loved the huge gray doilies! I even played with some sprays and inks on this one. Now the story behind the layout: This is our Ashley. One day while shopping at Costco, she spied this HUGE teddy bear. Well, I couldn't resist buying it for her. She is just this little thing, and teddy was so huge next to her. I'm sure her mom was thrilled when she brought him home, lol.  I hope you can pop by and play along with us!

Life is Short and The World is Wide

Hi my scrappy friends!! Hope your all having a wonderful scrapfabulous day! I'm excited because today is the reveal of the new sketch team at Sketchabilities. Karan Gerber designs such amazing sketches and it's an honor to be a part of her team. I had fun with this sketch. I used the new Bo Bunny Detour collection and photos of Ryan and Ashley on our last trip out to the cabin. There is this spot in the middle of the lake that is a sandbar. The water around it is only a few inches deep, so it looks like your standing in the middle of nowhere! It's a favorite spot of boaters to take photos. I'm actually in Victoria today enjoying the ocean and touring the wine country, so  I hope you all can stop by and check out our new design team and play along. See you when I get home!!

"Furever" Family

Today is another new sketch reveal at Sketchabilities. I just love working with Karan's sketches, it's always such a pleasure to see what she has in store for us. I hope you can stop by and join in our challenge! For this one I wanted to do a photo of our new "Furever" Family. These little pups bring such joy into our lives. Each day is a new adventure. They love the snow, they love the rain, they love the dirt and REALLY love my flowers and driftwood, lol. I used the new Studio Calico line that Pat at Urban Scrapbook gave me to work with. I love the challenge of new products. I have never used "Thickers" before, and these were double sided and I got to glitter, which I've never done before either. Now I have something new to play with, Thanks Pat!!! So here is my new family which is growing by leaps and bounds!

What's Cooking

There is a new sketch up this week at Sketchabilities! The oh-so talented Karan has done it again. Another fabulous sketch! I hope to see you come play along with us this week. When I went to see Pat at Urban Scrapbook she challenged me yet again. She gave me a new line to play with called Fab-Scraps. She said "Lynn...what about a cooking layout?"..I was so proud to announce that I was on my way home to bake apple pies that afternoon. Perfect right?? So I had this fabulous paper, delicious apple pies and a perfect photo opportunity! I see my hair was going in 50 different directions..but hey, I was baking, lol. Cowboy Blue - Sketchabilities # 71

We have a new sketch up at Sketchabilities this week!! Karan's sketches are just so much fun to work with. This layout I did about my little great-nephew Noah. Every time he visits us and Ryan is home, they head off to Ryan's room and always come out with something fun. Today it was the cowboy hat and sunglasses. Well who could resist taking a picture of that? When he was born we called him 'baby blue', so I thought it was fun to call my layout "Cowboy Blue". Sketchabilities #70 Timeless

I'm so enjoying being part of the Sketchabilities team. I find Karan's sketches so easy to work with. I see the sketch and I just get inspiration. I chose to do this one of Nicole and Ryan. Even though they are almost five years apart in age, they have been the best of friends from the beginning. I have never seen them utter a harsh word at each other or raise their voices. They have supported each other, and even with Nicole living away from home now, all I hear is how they text or call each other daily. They may live far apart but still remain as close as ever. Ryan has always just called her "Sis", and on her wedding day he gave the toast to the bride and started his speech with "Sis", lol. They are both so special and I love when the two of them are together.

A Dream Come True

My next challenge with Urban Scrapbook was to play with the new Bo Bunny Ambrosia Line. This was too much fun. I inked, I misted, I distressed then misted some more, lol. I fussy cut the flowers,then squished them while they were wet with mist. Way too much fun!!! I used sketch #66 from Sketchabilities to inspire me. Karan Gerber always has just the right sketch to work with. The colour inspiration challenge on Bo Bunny also fit this line perfectly! What more could a girl ask for!!
