Create

Hi Everyone! I found a sketch at Sketchabilities that I just had to try. I love how Karan is doing a little mixed media flair with her sketches. Now this one was an interesting project. I couldn't find the right paper, I fussed, I cut, I tore and finally came up with something. Then out came the stencils and paint. Then the mists. That's where things started to get interested. Too much mist!! A little gesso!! More mist. I wasn't sure what I thought so I sent a pic to my sister and said.. what do you think? Keep it? Or start again? She said keep it so here it is, lol. Do you have those days when you think a project will just come together effortlessly and then it ends up taking all day? Well, this was one of those days!! Happy Scrapping Everyone!!

Memories Mini Album

Happy Hump Day!!! How's everyone's week going? Remember my story from Monday about the three same Prima collections I bought? Well.. I decided a mini was a great way to use up a ton of paper. I started the album not knowing what I was going to do with it. Then the light bulb came on and I thought " It's Nicole & Chris's 2nd Anniversary this week, so maybe a mini is in order for a gift?". I had to hurry because I had one day to make it! They came home from holidays on Monday and I wanted to give it to them before they went home.  I searched for photos of them together. The earliest photo I found was from 2005. Yes they have been together for a long time. I believe Grade 8! So we have grad photos, engagement photos, and a few from holidays. It was a really fun little mini to do. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Love This Story

Good Morning and Happy Monday!!! How was the weekend? We stayed home this weekend and in between laundry, yardwork and cleaning the house I got to play a little in my studio. I saw this sketch by my very sweet and oh so talented friend Karan Gerber at Sketchabilities and new I just had to play along. As I was looking for paper, I realized I had bought not one, not two, but three collections of Prima Engraver! I must really have loved it to buy it three times right? lol...  So I used some of it for this layout, did a mini album for Nicole which I will share on Wednesday, and still have tons left over. You may be seeing me use this again! lol. So, off I go to find my next project and I hope your all having a wonderful Monday!

Just Me and My Girl Daisy

Today I have one more layout to share. Last week I was at Urban Scrapbook and my sweet friend Pat who also co-ordinates our design team says "Come with me..do I have a challenge for YOU", lol. Oh I love when she says that, lol. When I first saw this Prima line, I had no clue where to even start. One of the sheets had triangles, so I thought..hmmm maybe cut those out and layer them? The next sheet had the flowers on it..hmmm maybe fussy cut those and crackle them? I used some pop dots and layered them over the pattern that was on the third sheet which I used for my background. I'm still trying to figure out just how much crackle something needs, lol. In the end I thought it does look a little "busy" but I did complete the challenge!!! Now I'm tapping my fingers and trying to decide what to do next!!

Simple Memories

Happy Monday my friends! I love Mondays! Most people love Friday, but Monday's mean a nice quiet house, time to scrap and a time to breathe after a hectic weekend. Today at Let's Get Sketchy we have our new sketch up by the very talented Jenessa Franco. This was a fun one to do. I always seem to have a photo handy of those two cute doodles, and with the Prima Sun Kiss Collection, it all just came together. I hope everyone is having a great sunny day and I hope to see you at Let's Get Sketchy!

Everyday Memories

Good Morning Everyone! I LOVE Mondays because it means a new sketch reveal at Let's Get Sketchy!! Our design team was hard at work yet again coming up with some unique and creative takes on the sketch. One day Noah came for a visit with his bubble blower. Oh my did the doodles have fun. They chased the bubbles around the yard. It was a surprise to see Noah, and it just made my day. There is nothing like hanging out in the sun with a two year old, his bubble blower and two puppies.

I'm So Lucky To Have You In My Life

Good Morning, Good Morning...(my attempt at singing) lol. Today at Practical Scrappers we are featuring Birthday Layouts! The design team is just so talented. They are all unique and such a beautiful group of women. I also took inspiration from the amazing sketches at Scrapfriends. For my layout I did a few photos of my sister and myself on our birthday. We have birthdays three days apart, but we always say we are twins, lol. We are the best of friends. My sister and I call each other every morning to talk about what's new on the blog feed, what we are scrapping, and what's new since last night's coffee!! We live really close together so we get to see alot of each other. Our kids are more like siblings than cousins and we are always celebrating something, lol. So Sis...this one's for you! Love ya, miss ya, so CALL ME!!!

Sketchabilities #70 Timeless

I'm so enjoying being part of the Sketchabilities team. I find Karan's sketches so easy to work with. I see the sketch and I just get inspiration. I chose to do this one of Nicole and Ryan. Even though they are almost five years apart in age, they have been the best of friends from the beginning. I have never seen them utter a harsh word at each other or raise their voices. They have supported each other, and even with Nicole living away from home now, all I hear is how they text or call each other daily. They may live far apart but still remain as close as ever. Ryan has always just called her "Sis", and on her wedding day he gave the toast to the bride and started his speech with "Sis", lol. They are both so special and I love when the two of them are together.

Here is the sketch that Karan did for us!

Frosted Designs - Cherish

For our Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesday Challenge I decided to use a photo of Nicole and I on her wedding day. This is a photo I haven't scrapped yet. I was saving it for a special layout and this was it. One night Nicole came and sat by me in my studio and said she had a question to ask me. She asked if I would be her Matron of Honor at her wedding. I was stunned. I quickly asked if she wanted someone skinnier, younger, a friend maybe?? She looked at me and said "Mom, there is no one that I want standing by my side when I marry Christopher but you, you are my best friend". That was the biggest compliment I could have ever gotten. I proudly stood by her on her wedding day with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. I love my girl and she truly is my best friend.

This is the amazing sketch we got to play with this week!!! Stop by my friends and join us at Frosted Designs

Still A Little Hard to Say What's Going On

Our song this week at Scrap It With A Song is "Cannonball" by Damien Rice. This is a photo of me sitting in my field of wildflowers. I just stopped the car, got out and sat right in the middle of the field. It was so good for my soul. I chose the line "Still a Little Hard to say What's Going On' because of the journey I have been on for the past couple of years. Every day the sun shines a little brighter.

Urban Scrapbook / Practical Scrappers "Daisy Day"

I know what your thinking...here come the Daisy layouts, lol! This is my pretty little girl! She makes me so happy. She is the calmest little girl. Yesterday I was visiting the girls at Urban Scrapbook and Pat gave me this adorable line of paper from Prima to work with. I was so excited to do my first Daisy layout with it. Being part of the design team at Urban is like a dream come true.

I did this layout for the "Polygon 5 sided" reveal at Practical Scrappers. I decided to use hexagons..and took inspiration from one of NikkiARNGwife's layouts at Scrapbook.com. She is an amazing digital artist, and I wanted to try doing it the traditional way.
