Teddy

Morning Scrap Friends! Today is another sketch reveal at Sketchabilities. Karan's sketches are so much fun to work with, and I had a blast with this one. I had this collection from MME and I thought it had just the rights elements for this layout. I loved the huge gray doilies! I even played with some sprays and inks on this one. Now the story behind the layout: This is our Ashley. One day while shopping at Costco, she spied this HUGE teddy bear. Well, I couldn't resist buying it for her. She is just this little thing, and teddy was so huge next to her. I'm sure her mom was thrilled when she brought him home, lol.  I hope you can pop by and play along with us!

Mixed Media class with Limor Webber

 Front Cover
Back Cover
Wow..what a day! This morning I started my mixed media class with Limor Webber. I was in awe of what I learnt on Day 1. We played with modeling paste, chalks and stamps. Way too much fun. I can't wait to see what else we are going to learn. She is an amazing instructor. Such a talented artistic lady, and a real sweetie too. This was made from her design, so I can't take any credit for it at all. We tried to copy her page, and it was fun to see how everyone's in the class came out just a little bit different. This is the front and back cover of our album. Each month we will make two pages. Now I'm itching to get out there and make a canvas, buy chalks, and modeling paste..Slow down girl, lol. Hope your all having a fabulous day!

Spoon Shav'n

Morning!!  The other day I was going through my blog feed and visited my friend Kerys's Blog and she did this oh so cute layout from a sketch by Brenda Ragsdale over at MOB ( Mother of Boys) scrapbook kit club. I've been so busy scrapping Nicole's wedding and other layouts, that I thought I should check it out! This is really going to encourage me to scrap more of the "men" in my life! Look out boys..mom's on a roll now! So..this is Ryan back in 1995! He was three years old and wanted to be "just like daddy", so Clint gave him some shaving cream and a plastic spoon so Ryan could shave with him. Just too cute right? I used some of my Authentique stash for this one. I figure it's ok to use it now that I have some of the new collections to play with, lol.  Have a wonderful day my friends!! Hope the sun is shining in your part of the world!

Toil & Trouble

Morning!!! I'm just having a blast playing with the new Authentique collections. I don't do a lot of Halloween layouts but I think this is my third layout with this one. I can't get enough of the shabby look to this line. This photo of the kids is from 2004..I can't believe how small Ryan looks..wow! I even played with some mixed mediums..oh yeah..I'm trying, lol. I used Gesso for the first time and I'm just in love with Distress Crackle. This layout is for the color inspiration at Authentique. I will admit when I saw the challenge I went and bought just a "few" more pieces to the collection, lol. Now I have a little left over for my stash! I also used the sketch from Creative Scrappers for some inspiration. Have a wonderful scrappy day everyone!

The Crisp Days of Fall

Afternoon my scrappy friends! I would love to say this was a quick layout that I did, but that's just not the case, lol. I've had this on my desk since last Friday, and this was suppose to be my "just for fun" layout. I had the perfect sketch by Sian Fair at Sketchbook 365, the gorgeous Apple Cider Collection from Bo Bunny and still I couldn't get it going. Maybe I left my mojo on the island, lol. This morning with a Chi-latte in hand I finally finished. The photos were from our weekend at the cabin. We woke up to this incredibly foggy morning, and we couldn't resist snapping some pics! Hope your all having a wonderful day!

Apple Bundt Cake

Hi Friends! A post that isn't scrappy related..what? lol.  A friend of ours dropped off this HUGE box of apples for us, and while her son was here he said his mom made this delicious Apple Cake! Well..of course I needed the recipe. She shared this with me yesterday and this morning I made the cake. Oh my goodness it was incredibly delicious, so I thought I would share the recipe with you. The original came from Allrecipes.com. The only thing I changed was instead of white sugar, I used brown sugar with the apples. Yummm. Hope you enjoy!

Back from the Island !!!

Well we are back from our whirl wind trip to Vancouver Island! What an amazing vacation. I just wanted to share some of the photos I picked out for a mini album that will be featured at Bo Bunny in October! I'll try not to yap too long, lol.

This is ME!, lol. The first day we spent at Butchart Gardens. Just acres and acres of gorgeous flowers.
We went to a Wine Festival on Saturday and visited several different Vineyards. I thought the grapes were so cool.
Just a photo of the Vineyard at the Zanatta Winery
Yup, this is what I was doing on a Saturday afternoon. Just relaxing with a bottle of goodness!
We met this incredibly talented Jazz Singer named Maureen Washington at the Vineyard. We just hit it off!! Her and her husband treated us to two nights out on the town filled with food, fun and laughter! Just the two most wonderful people I've met. And..her music is AMAZING!
On Sunday we went on a whale watching tour. Oh yes, I got on a boat and went on the ocean! I am terrified of water so this was a huge feat for me, lol. We visited these fun little sea lions and saw two terrific humpback whales on our tour!
The highlight of my trip was walking down the docks. We came across this family of seals that live there and we got some fish and the little kids and I fed him. He was adorable!
On our last day we just spent some time driving the island and stopping by the ocean to just take in the beauty of the mountains and the ocean.
Now this guy is my sweet husband who let me go into all the tacky tourist stores, bought me endless coffees, wined and dined me and made me the happiest girl in the world!

The rest of my 300 photos I'm sure will end up on layouts, but these were some of my favorites!

Bo Bunny - Let's Take A Trip

Morning Scrappy Friends!!! I'm a little behind (just got back from the island) and just wanted to share my layout that is up at Bo Bunny for the second week of blog classes. Working with this Detour collection was just too much fun. All the amazing chipboard pieces and the noteworthy elements made it a breeze! This is a photo we took in Disneyland last year. I just loved that the collection was so versatile for any vacation! Next is my island trip, lol.

Dream - Let's Get Sketchy

Monday, Monday....and we all know that means another sketch reveal at Let's Get Sketchy! I loved the circle idea of the sketch and when I saw all the doilies on the MME paper, I thought...hey why not cut them out and make a circle out of circles. It's funny when you start a layout and have one idea, then it turns into something completely different. First I had three buttons, then I had three little flowers, then I decided to punch out three flowers...see what I mean, I just get going some times, lol. I also started this layout with a colored photo of the kids but something wasn't clicking. The colors were too soft, so off to my "photo basket" as I call it, and there they were...two little black and whites of Nicole! I'm sure we all get off track and try more than a few things in one spot..but if in the end we are happy, that's all that counts right?

Life is Short and The World is Wide

Hi my scrappy friends!! Hope your all having a wonderful scrapfabulous day! I'm excited because today is the reveal of the new sketch team at Sketchabilities. Karan Gerber designs such amazing sketches and it's an honor to be a part of her team. I had fun with this sketch. I used the new Bo Bunny Detour collection and photos of Ryan and Ashley on our last trip out to the cabin. There is this spot in the middle of the lake that is a sandbar. The water around it is only a few inches deep, so it looks like your standing in the middle of nowhere! It's a favorite spot of boaters to take photos. I'm actually in Victoria today enjoying the ocean and touring the wine country, so  I hope you all can stop by and check out our new design team and play along. See you when I get home!!

Bo Bunny - Lots of Leaves

Morning Scrappy Friends!! Today at Bo Bunny we have a sketch challenge!! The fabulous Juliana designed this sketch and when I saw it, I knew I had to play along. I saw the flowers and I was hooked!! The photos are from a day at the park when we took a family walk. The kids started playing in the trees and hiding behind the leaves so we started snapping some pictures. I thought they were perfect for the Apple Cider collection which I'm addicted too by the way. Beware...your going to be seeing lots of layouts with this collection, lol

Bo Bunny - Big Boy Jax

Happy Scrappy Day My Friends! Today at Bo Bunny our assignment was "Four Legged Friends". Well...I just happen to have a few of those kind of friends, so I am playing along! For this one I'm playing with the new Serenade Collections. I love all the rich colours. I punched the edges of my paper and then put it on another sheet that had some black on it. It was just the right mix to tell the story of my Big Boy Jax! The story of the little 15 pound puppy that stole my heart, then grew into a golden gorilla ( as Nicole calls him). He is my boy, and I love him! On a side note..we leave tomorrow for our four day vacation by the ocean! I'm so excited.I'll see you all when I get back!!

Bo Bunny - Apple Cider Mini Album

One of my most favorite things that Bo Bunny sent me were the mini albums for each collection. I LOVE doing mini's. So quick and so fun! This is the second one that I've completed. The other one I'm still waiting for pictures, lol. It was so easy with all the cutouts, flowers, embellishments and patterned paper that go with the album. These are all photos of Ashley and Ryan on our "Buck Lake" photo day. We played by the hay bales and had so much fun. Ryan took most of the photos...because he knows Mom likes lots and lots of pictures. When I told them I was doing this album, Ashley said how much her mom liked the pictures...hmmmm...got me thinking!!! So this album is for Ashley and her Mom.

Just Me and My Girl Daisy

Today I have one more layout to share. Last week I was at Urban Scrapbook and my sweet friend Pat who also co-ordinates our design team says "Come with me..do I have a challenge for YOU", lol. Oh I love when she says that, lol. When I first saw this Prima line, I had no clue where to even start. One of the sheets had triangles, so I thought..hmmm maybe cut those out and layer them? The next sheet had the flowers on it..hmmm maybe fussy cut those and crackle them? I used some pop dots and layered them over the pattern that was on the third sheet which I used for my background. I'm still trying to figure out just how much crackle something needs, lol. In the end I thought it does look a little "busy" but I did complete the challenge!!! Now I'm tapping my fingers and trying to decide what to do next!!

Be Silly Together

Morning Folks! How's your day going? I just got back from a shopping trip..I don't go shopping for myself too often, but today I needed to get out of the house, so off I went. Three stores, three sweaters and a pair of jeans. Ohhh I hate shopping for jeans, they never fit, but none the less I did buy some. Just wanted something new for our trip to the coast. Anyways..the layout! The sketch is from Scrap 365's sketch blog. It looked like a fun one to try. I'm usually the girl who always works with collections, but not today!! A little bit of Basic Grey, a touch of MME and some random chipboard, lol. One minute I look at it and go "yeah that's cute", the next I go "hmmm not so sure" lol. But here it is! The photos are compliments of Chris and Nicole. They are always hamming it up in a photo booth for me. Love these pictures! It was fun to put down the design work and just have some fun. Have a great day my friends!

Little Monsters

For the New Bo Bunny Card Sketch Challenge ..Please scroll down!

BOO!!! This afternoon I was browsing away when I came upon this fun sketch on the Authentique blog. Well, I just so happen to have some of the new Enchanted collection on my desk so I thought..take a break and do a fun layout! This is Ryan and Armando, his bestest friend, lol. They hang out together...ALL THE TIME!!! They came to me a few weeks before Halloween last year and said "Mommy...will you sew us some costumes? We want to be Greek God's?"...Why yes my little monsters I answered, lol. Nothing more fun than working with shiny material right? I did have a good time sewing the costumes. I even made Ryan a wreath for his head. I haven't sewen costumes since the kids were small, so it brought back a ton of memories. I'm now wondering what they are going to come up with this year... I did hear the whisper of "Power Rangers" lol.
